Turkish prosecutors in Ankara issued detention warrants for 79 teachers as part of an investigation into alleged links to the Gülen movement.
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that detention orders had been issued as of April 10, 2018 for 79 teachers who worked at schools closed by decree and whose alleged links to the movement had been identified.
The statement said operations targeting the suspects were continuing in Ankara and 15 provinces.
Ankara designates the Gülen movement, a transnational civic initiative inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, as a terrorist organization and blames it for the coup attempt. The movement denies involvement.
