The İstanbul 27th High Criminal Court ordered Gözaydın’s release after accepting the indictment prepared against her.
The court set the first hearing in the case for September 12, 2017.
Gözaydın, a prominent academic known for her work on law, religion and state institutions in Turkey, had been held for months before the indictment was accepted.
Her release came amid wide-ranging post-coup investigations targeting academics, journalists, civil servants and other professionals accused by Turkish authorities of links to outlawed groups.
Ankara blames the coup attempt on the Gülen movement, a transnational civic initiative inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, and designates the movement as a terrorist organization. The movement denies involvement in the coup or any terrorist activity.
