The İstanbul 30th High Criminal Court has accepted an indictment against 15 former governors and district governors, including former İstanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu and former İstanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın, over alleged links to the faith-based Gülen movement.
Following the acceptance of the indictment, the court issued arrest warrants for Çapkın and former Denizli Governor Abdülkadir Demir. The case is part of the ongoing crackdown initiated by the government following Turkey’s July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
