Selçuk Adıgüzel, coordinator of the Platform for Investigating Deaths during the July 15 coup attempt, says then intelligence chief Hakan Fidan placed a military officer working for the National Intelligence Organization inside General Staff headquarters before the events of 2016. Citing a former intelligence officer, Adıgüzel said the operative profiled military personnel, disappeared one week before the coup attempt after being caught carrying out the surveillance and was later promoted to brigadier general.
