Commission Chairman Reşat Petek informed members that the investigation phase officially ended on January 3, 2017, and the drafting of the final report is underway. “Once the draft report is completed, it will be distributed to members for evaluation and ultimately submitted to the Parliament Speaker’s Office,” Petek stated.
KEY WITNESSES ABSENT
Since its first meeting on October 7, the commission gathered information from nearly 50 individuals and conducted on-site investigations in Ankara, Istanbul, and Marmaris.
The preliminary draft report is currently 936 pages long, though it is expected to exceed 1,300 pages with final additions. However, the commission faced significant criticism for concluding its work without direct testimonies from Akar and Fidan. While Akar was sent written questions, Fidan received neither an invitation to testify nor written questions, leaving major gaps in the official parliamentary inquiry.
