Turkish businessman Fadıl Akgündüz, widely known as “Jet Fadıl,” continued publishing advertisements with references to Turkey’s July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
According to Yeniçağ, the advertisement was published both above the main headline and as a full-page ad inside the newspaper.
Akgündüz had been arrested on December 21, 2015 over allegations that he collected money from buyers for timeshare sales in the Caprice Gold and Caprice Maldives real estate projects in İstanbul’s Bayrampaşa district but failed to complete the projects.
Prosecutors sought a prison sentence of 2,442 years for Akgündüz in the case.
He was released on March 28, 2017 while the criminal proceedings continued.
Separate debt recovery lawsuits against Akgündüz were also ongoing.
