The report said the number of children living in Turkish prisons with their mothers was increasing and that around 800 babies and young children were being held with imprisoned mothers across the country.
Türkan Kepsüt, the wife of Bülent Kepsüt, who was already jailed in Balıkesir Prison, was also arrested.
The couple had two daughters, Büşra and Esra.
The report identified Büşra as 15 years old. It first described Esra as 26 months old, but later referred to her as 15 months old.
The report said the family had not been given information about the reason for the arrests because the case file was confidential.
The case reflected the wider human impact of Turkey’s post-coup crackdown, in which thousands of people accused of links to outlawed groups were detained or jailed, often leaving children directly affected by the imprisonment of one or both parents.
Ankara blames the coup attempt on the Gülen movement, a transnational civic initiative inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, and designates the movement as a terrorist organization. The movement denies involvement in the coup or any terrorist activity.
