Selçuk Adıgüzel, coordinator of the July 15 Deaths Research Platform, shared new information regarding Turkey’s July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
In a video published on YouTube, Adıgüzel argued that July 15 was not a coup attempt but a process known and managed in advance by the government. Adıgüzel based this assessment on a parliamentary question submitted to the Turkish Parliament by Republican People’s Party (CHP) lawmaker Murat Emir on July 27, 2016, which was left unanswered.
Evaluating the phrase “I convinced the coup plotters this time,” which was included in the parliamentary question and attributed to Hakan Fidan, then-head of the National Intelligence Organization, Adıgüzel stated that this opens the door to a new debate regarding the coup attempt.
The video also details how some Kemalist, ultranationalist, and nationalist groups initially appeared to support the alleged coup attempt before withdrawing, arguing that the entire process was planned under the coordination of the National Intelligence Organization.
