A young girl was killed in a traffic accident in the eastern Turkish province of Elazığ while traveling with her family to visit her father, who had been imprisoned during Turkey’s post-coup crackdown.
The family had traveled from the northwestern province of Kocaeli to Elazığ for the prison visit.
After getting off a bus at the Ring Road Intersection, they were preparing to cross the road toward the prison when Seda let go of her mother’s hand and ran into traffic.
A passing car struck and seriously injured her.
Seda was taken by ambulance to Fırat University Hospital, where she died despite efforts to save her.
